Duration: 5k (3.1 miles)
The 5k race will have challenge stations set up at each mile marker along the course that you must stop and complete before moving on. Make sure to follow the movement guidelines for each exercise as shown in the videos below as close as possible to remain eligible for prizes. As you run, you will see orange flags set up along the path. Please stay to the left of these flags unless directed by event volunteers otherwise. We will be briefing everyone on how to perform each exercise properly and where to go tomorrow morning, 15 minutes before the race begins but PLEASE take a look at the instructions below to have a good idea of what we are talking about before we talk about it! Thanks!
Mile #1 Station: Hand Release Push-ups
Men: 50 Women:30
Mile #2 Station: Bear Crawls & Walking Lunges
*Return to the goal line with walking lunges before beginning each set of bear crawls!
-5yd bear crawl
-5yd walking lunge back
-10yd bear crawl
-10yd walking lunge back
-15yd bear crawl
-15yd walking lunge back
Mile #3 Station: Burpees
Men: 30 Women: 20
*After each burpee, you must jump laterally over a chalk line to complete the rep!
The morning of the race will be pretty cold so make sure to wear WARM running gear and gloves. During the push-ups and burpees you will also be touching your chest to the ground for each rep so take that into consideration when choosing your attire. Stay bundled up and let's have a blast tomorrow!W
So today's the last day for online registration, however, the deadline will be extended to 12:00am midnight tonight from its previous time at 8:00pm. That being said, don't wait too long to get signed up! Also, late registration will still be available on the morning of the race (tomorrow morning) but with CASH ONLY. Be sure to get there early (between 8:15 and 8:30) to get checked in, receive your shirt and racing bib, and enjoy some of the extra entertainment available at the starting line. For instance, there will be a pull-up challenge of which the top male and female will get a free meal at Mom's on Main directly across the street from the event!
We will be running the course today to give you all a time frame to strive for and hopefully beat so stay tuned!
